I shoot with a Canon 5D3 and the nominal size of the images, as stated by Canon, is 5760 x 3840. I have to admit that I never noticed that before. In particular I was disappointed in its noise reduction as compared to LR and PN. Not so much by what you can do with it, but rather that its functionality, at US $300, does not seem that much greater to me than Lightroom. (EDIT - OK, how do we show 100% crops with this new forum, this picture is coming out a lot smaller?) This is a 100% crop of an ISO100 shot, normal I prefer a bit of noise to keep detail intact but now I don't need to at ISO100, though I am still tweaking it so I might reduce the NR a touch more yet and tweak a few other things.

It would be nice to see a few things added such as a cloning tool and it would be nice to be able to do selective sharpening and NR (Noise Ninja had a noise brush). At the moment they are working on making it a plug-in for PhotoShop. I think the guys at PictureCode have start with image quality and easy of use in mind and will build it from there. LR and C1 are very nice programs with the ability to tweak a lot things but for me PN makes my workflow very quick, it loads up pretty instantly and just feels a lot slicker. All the others give me a 4928x3264 image (note this is Nikon's quote output size for the D7000) whereas PN give me a 4948x3280 picture, that's 144,448 more pixels! Other programs crop these pixels off because the extreme edge of the sensor is not considered as accurate but I've found useful detail here that I never new I had. PN is the only program that I have found that gives you the entire picture that you took. The Noise Ninja version that comes in PN handles noise completely different to the previous version, if I want I can completely remove any evidence of grainy noise at 100% while keeping slightly more detail. I found it to be slightly better than LR and pretty much on par with C1. I compared it to Lightroom 4.2 and Capture One V7. But it came down to several things for me.įirst the overall image quality.
